Illegal Water Connections Cut from Unauthorized Buildings in Thane

Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has cut 134 illegal water connections from unauthorized constructions in the city. This strict action was taken within just six days by the water supply department. Out of these, water supply to 79 borewells was stopped, and 18 motor pumps were seized.

The crackdown comes after Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao ordered immediate action against unauthorized buildings getting water supply. The drive began on 25th July and covered areas like Diva, Mumbra, Majiwada-Manpada, Lokmanya Nagar, Savarkar Nagar, Uthalsar, and Bhopar.

Officials inspected these areas and cut water connections wherever they found unauthorized buildings. They also took action against water being used for commercial purposes without proper permission.

The water department has made it clear that giving water connections to illegal constructions is against the law. The municipal team is also checking if such buildings have the right documents. If not, more action will be taken, including police complaints.

This effort aims to save water and control the spread of illegal construction in the city.
