ST Corporation to Sell Petrol and Diesel at Depots
New Source to Improve Financial Condition
To generate new revenue sources, the State Transport (ST) Corporation will now sell petrol and diesel at its depots. This decision comes after the approval from the state and central government’s commercial departments. Transport Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar confirmed that commercial use of ST depots will help improve the corporation’s financial situation.
Currently, many ST depots have unused land. These spaces will be utilized for setting up fuel pumps. The corporation has identified around 251 suitable locations across the state. The plan includes the installation of petrol and diesel pumps in these depots.
Petrol pumps will be opened in areas with high traffic and business potential. Each pump will require approximately 25 by 30 meters of space. The ST Corporation will lease these spaces to companies, generating additional income. Along with petrol and diesel sales, convenience stores and other commercial outlets may also be set up.
This initiative is expected to strengthen the financial position of the ST Corporation while offering fuel services to the public.
