Thane’s Budget Set to Cross 6,000Cr
Senior officials of the Thane Municipal Corporation have stated that this year, the municipal budget will exceed 6,000 crore, a significant jump from last year’s 5,400 crore.
The municipal budget will be presented to Mayor Sharmila Pipolkar. Since the budget is being presented in March this year, no new taxes can be hiked. The administration is likely to increase the fees for new water connections and several other services. A proposal to increase bus ticket prices is expected.
The corporation owes 2,000 crores to its contractors. This burden will befall the Thane residents. The administration is cutting down salaries, civic amenities, and contractor payments from the available revenue. Revenue targets for Fire Services, Advertising and Municipal Bonds are being raised
