MSRDC Fails to Act; Roads Full of Potholes, Public in Trouble
Shahapur-Sapnagav-Kolakwadi Road Neglected for Eight Years
The Shahapur-Sapnagav-Kolakwadi road in Shahapur taluka, once a vital route, has been in poor condition for the past eight years. Potholes have made it almost unusable, forcing locals to protest. Despite repeated demands, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has failed to take action.
This road, connected to the Shahapur-Murbad highway, is crucial for transportation, but since 2018 the administration has neglected its maintenance. Locals say accidents have increased, with many people injured and several losing their lives. The road’s condition worsens every monsoon, making travel dangerous.
Public Outcry Against Negligence
Today, over 14 organizations and hundreds of residents protested, demanding urgent repairs. Women and elderly citizens also joined the protest, highlighting the hardships faced daily. Around 70 villages depend on this road for commuting, but poor maintenance has disrupted daily life and emergency services.
Locals accuse the authorities of ignoring their repeated complaints. They have warned that if the issue is not resolved soon, protests will intensify, and responsibility for any mishap will lie with the administration.
