Free Organ Transplants Now Under Mahatma Phule Yojana in Thane.

In a major relief for underprivileged patients, the state government has now included costly organ transplants like heart, kidney, and liver under the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. Selected hospitals in Thane have started offering these treatments for free to eligible patients.

Under this scheme, expenses that usually run into lakhs are fully covered:

•Kidney transplant: ₹6–9 lakh

•Liver transplant: ₹18–25 lakh

•Heart transplant: ₹20–30 lakh

•Cornea transplant: ₹1.5 lakh

Earlier, many poor patients couldn’t afford such treatments. Now, with this scheme, life-saving surgeries are within reach. Patients will receive up to ₹5 lakh directly from the government, and any extra cost will be covered through special funds.

Required paperwork includes ration card, Aadhaar, income proof, and medical reports. The entire application and approval process is done online, making it faster and more transparent.

So far, over 1.36 crore patients have benefited from this scheme. Thane residents are urged to check their eligibility and consult empaneled hospitals for more information.
