Car Owners, Taxpayers to Lose Ration Benefit.

In Thane, people who pay income tax, own cars, or earn over ₹1 lakh annually will no longer get subsidised ration under the government’s free grain scheme.

The Food and Civil Supplies Department has already removed 1.3 lakh names. Around 2.3 lakh more will be cut soon. The aim is to ensure only truly needy people benefit.

This action affects government employees, private taxpayers, and others with steady income.

The move has worried middle-class families, but the government says it’s necessary to reduce misuse.

People with severe illnesses, widows, and disabled citizens will still get the benefit. Officials have asked everyone to update their ration details truthfully to avoid losing access.
