ST Smart Card Scheme Paused in Thane.

The ST Smart Card scheme, meant to give digital travel passes to students and citizens, has been paused in Thane for over a year.

Due to technical delays, the Maharashtra State Transport (MSRTC) is still issuing old paper passes. Students find these difficult to manage as they tear or get misplaced easily.

More than 53,000 smart cards were issued before the project was halted. Now, students have to visit depots multiple times and get handwritten slips.

The system is stuck due to incomplete software and Aadhaar-related issues. Officials say they are working to fix the system soon.

Meanwhile, thousands of students are left waiting for smoother travel solutions.
