131 Wards to Go for Elections Again in Thane.

After three years, the process for Thane Municipal Corporation elections is starting again. The earlier ward boundaries have been canceled and the city will now go to elections based on a new ward structure.
In 2017, elections were held based on the old 131-ward system. The State Election Commission has now approved a new plan with 33 panels and 131 wards.
Each panel will have 3 to 4 wards. If a panel has 4 wards, voters can vote for 4 candidates. Final voter lists for these new wards will be published by September 18.
The important dates are:
•Aug 29: State Election Commission approval
•Sept 6: Draft voter list publication
•Sept 16 to 17: Voter list corrections
•Sept 18: Final voter list release
This change has come after the Supreme Court cleared the way for elections, following the State Election Commission’s fresh directions.
