Traffic Violators in Thane to Get E-Challan Alerts on Mobile
Breaking traffic rules in Thane will now directly hit violators’ mobile phones. The police have started using advanced CCTV cameras to keep a close watch on vehicle movement. Anyone found violating rules will immediately receive a challan notification on their mobile.
As part of this initiative, modern CCTV cameras have been installed at the busy Cadbury Junction. A special control center has also been set up, where 20 staff members have been appointed to monitor violations.
The system will track offences such as jumping signals, wrong-side driving, over-speeding, not wearing helmets, driving without seat belts, and using mobile phones while driving. Once a violation is detected, the challan will be issued instantly and sent to the driver’s registered mobile number.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pankaj Shirsat said this move is aimed at improving discipline on the roads and ensuring safer travel for citizens.
