Adivasi Families in Bhiwandi Begin Protest Over Land Dispute

Tension has risen in Nizampur City, Bhiwandi, over a land dispute despite a High Court order. The land in question, survey number 4854, belongs to Bayabai Gunghune and Raju Gunghune. However, local Adivasi families have claimed rights over it, leading to a fresh conflict.

The families, alleging unfair treatment, started a sit-in protest at the Tehsildar’s office on Thursday morning. They argued that the court had earlier directed that possession of the land should be given to the Gunghune family, but officials have been delaying the handover. The protesters accused the authorities of negligence and demanded immediate action.

Officials said that the land ownership issue involves disputes between Adivasi and Bhil Adivasi communities, which has caused complications. A meeting was held at the Tehsildar’s office to resolve the matter, but no final decision has been taken yet.

Frustrated, the Gunghune family, along with supporters, vowed to continue their protest until justice is delivered.
