Chaos in Dighe as Residents Protest Against Demolition Drive

A demolition drive in Dighe created major unrest among residents as the municipal squad arrived to act against illegal buildings. The anti-encroachment team of Thane Municipal Corporation faced strong opposition from locals who gathered in large numbers to stop the action.

According to officials, after Ganesh festival, the civic body has become more active in tackling illegal constructions. On Thursday, two buildings in Dighe were marked for demolition. However, the situation turned tense when hundreds of residents surrounded the officials, raising slogans and demanding that the action be stopped.

Deputy Commissioner Mr. Joshi explained that while people protested in large numbers, the civic team was only carrying out the orders of the court. He added that the corporation tried to reason with the crowd, and assured that all future actions would be done strictly as per legal orders.
