Our Constitution in Danger? Awhad Speaks Out
Dr Jitendra Awhad, leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, expressed regret that Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar is not given enough respect. An exhibition of rare photographs of Dr Ambedkar was organised by the party at the local town hall. Milind Ballal, the editor of ‘Thane Vaibhav,’ inaugurated it.
Ballal stated that the development of the underprivileged can only be achieved by following Babasaheb’s ideology. He noted that while inclusivity is essential in Indian society, the current politics is turning a blind eye to it. Society often seems to have lost its self-confidence because it has drifted away from the Babasaheb’s mantra: “Educate, Organise, and Agitate.”
Awhad mentions that if ongoing attempts to attack the Constitution are not stopped, the country will tear apart. He criticised the government, alleging that fundamental rights are violated by many institutions, and those who raise their voices against them are being suppressed with legal action.
