Continuous Rain Brings Joy as Dams Start Filling Up.

Thanks to ongoing heavy rains, the dams supplying water to Thane city and nearby areas are now filling up. This has eased concerns about water shortage. The seven major dams that supply drinking water to the region have together collected 329.11 million cubic meters of water—about 29.49% of their total capacity.

Farmers and citizens are both relieved. With water now available, worries about agriculture and daily use are reduced. Bhatsa Dam alone has stored 239.98 million cubic meters (24.9%), while Barvi Dam has 52.97 million cubic meters (38.65%).

Officials say more water will be released soon from these dams for farming and drinking needs. Heavy rainfall in the catchment areas is expected to further increase storage levels.

This year, Thane district recorded 715 mm rainfall in July, and the water situation has improved compared to previous months. The water from these dams will now be sufficient for the coming weeks, ensuring stable supply for both households and farmlands.
