Building Collapses in Thane’s Kisnan Nagar, Residents Evacuated Safely.

A four-storey building in Kisnan Nagar, Wagle Estate, Thane, partially collapsed on the morning of August 23, 2023. The incident occurred around 8:30 am, but fortunately, no casualties were reported as the residents were quickly evacuated.

The building, which was approximately 35 to 40 years old, had been deemed hazardous by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) due to its dilapidated condition. The structure housed around 60 to 70 residents across its three floors, with several shops on the ground floor.

Prompt action by the authorities ensured the safe evacuation of all occupants, who were relocated to a nearby municipal school. The TMC, along with disaster management teams and local authorities, responded swiftly to the incident. The cause of the collapse is attributed to the building’s poor condition, and further investigations are underway.

The residents have been provided with temporary shelter, and efforts are being made to assess the damage and ensure the area’s safety. The incident highlights the need for regular inspections and maintenance of old buildings to prevent such accidents.
