No Eclipse Will Occur on August 2

A message is going viral on social media claiming that a solar eclipse will occur on August 2 and that the entire world will experience six minutes of darkness. However, astronomer Dr. K.G. Somnath clarified that this claim is completely false and has no scientific basis.

There will be no eclipse of any kind on August 2 this year. The Earth will not go dark for six minutes, and people should not believe such rumors. The next solar eclipse expected to last six minutes will happen two years later, on August 2, 2027. Even then, the entire Earth will not be dark; the eclipse will only be visible in certain parts of the world. From India, it will appear as a partial eclipse.

Dr. Somnath also shared details about other eclipses this year. On Sunday, September 7, a partial lunar eclipse will occur, which will be visible in India from 9:57 PM to 1:27 AM. Another solar eclipse will occur on September 21, but it will not be visible from India
