High Court’s Strict Action; Thane’s Crackdown Resumes
The High Court has ordered immediate action against 11 illegal buildings in the Shil area of Thane. Following this order, the Thane Municipal Corporation has begun demolishing unauthorized structures. These actions aim to curb the activities of land mafias in the region.
Earlier, the municipal corporation had demolished 21 illegal buildings in the Shil area. However, despite several drives, 338 unauthorized constructions remain. The court has instructed the authorities to continue the demolitions without delay.
Land Mafia Under Pressure
The High Court’s intervention has created fear among land mafias, who were thriving in the area. The civic body has confirmed that 233 illegal buildings have already been demolished in a single drive, and further action will continue.
The case was filed by a private petitioner, which prompted the court to issue strict directions. Authorities have stated that the operation against illegal constructions will be intensified to ensure compliance with the law.
