Rotary Club of Thane North Leads Community Transformation

Skill Development Center: In a landmark vocational service initiative led by PDG Dinesh Mehta, the Rotary Clubs of RCTN, Thane Lake City, and Thane Green City launched their first-ever Skill Development Center. Driven by the dedication of DG Harsh Makol, President Mamta Vanjani, PP Santosh Bhide, PP Jitendra Bhabure, and IPP Medha Joshi, the center partnered with Blue Star to run an AC Technician Training Program for underprivileged young men. The initiative celebrated a major milestone in December 2026 with the graduation of its first batch. Equipped with employable skills, these young men are now ready to begin professional careers across Mumbai and neighbouring areas. This project stands as a powerful pathway to self-reliance, transforming lives through vocational opportunity.

Beyond Classrooms: Approaching its Golden Jubilee, the Rotary Club of Thane North has revitalised six rural and tribal schools across Shahapur and Murbad during the 2025–26 operational year. Led by President Mamta Vanjani and her team, the club addressed critical infrastructure challenges by repairing leaking roofs, restoring broken toilet blocks to ensure hygiene and dignity for young girls, installing clean drinking water systems, and providing educational toys. These comprehensive upgrades have transformed neglected spaces into safe, welcoming environments, directly boosting student attendance, restoring parental confidence, and ensuring that underprivileged children can learn with the pride and dignity they deserve.

Eco-Bag Initiative: Combining environmental devotion with community action, the Rotary Club of Thane North launched a sustainable initiative for Ganpati Visarjan. To combat single-use plastic pollution, the club introduced biodegradable, eco-friendly bags made from recycled newspapers to collect Nirmalya (ritual offerings), preventing over 500 plastic bags from entering landfills. This project unites youth energy with Rotary’s vision, partnering with Rotaractors and Interactors. Under the guidance of origami expert Bobby Vijaykar and RCTN members, youth volunteers conducted workshops to craft these bags and lead community awareness campaigns. Rotaractors actively distributed the eco-bags to local idol vendors, while Interactors promoted recycling within schools.
