A Legacy of Service and Sustainability: The Rotary Club of Thane Green City

During Rotary Year 2025–26, the Rotary Club of Thane Green City (RCTGC) delivered impactful initiatives across healthcare, women empowerment, environment, youth development, and community welfare, creating sustainable outcomes across multiple regions.
Women, Child Welfare and Education: Under the Mahila Sakshamikaran initiative, RCTGC supported 500 women in Karjat Taluka in obtaining Aadhaar registration and accessing government welfare schemes, enabling benefits valued at approx ₹50 lakh. To strengthen child welfare, the Club facilitated Aadhaar registration and Anganwadi enrolment for 100 children who had previously been excluded from government nutrition programmes. This intervention enabled access to daily meals and welfare benefits valued at approximately ₹10 lakh. In the field of education and skill development, the Club upgraded infrastructure at the Women’s ITI, Thane, and the ITI, Mulund, by enhancing technical training equipment and instruments with an investment of approximately ₹7.5 lakh, supporting improved vocational learning opportunities for students.

Healthcare Initiatives: Through the landmark Global Grant Project ‘Spandan: Saving Little Hearts’ the Club secured ₹55.65 lakh ($62,400) to fund 37 pediatric heart surgeries, supported by a dedicated blood donation drive. The Club also conducted 12 medical camps across Thane with RC Bombay Powai and L&T Realty (CSR), serving 2,000 beneficiaries. Expanding its preventive healthcare footprint, the Club sponsored 500 cervical cancer vaccinations across Shirdi and Nashik in partnership with neighbouring districts, and organised a Clinical Research Awareness Symposium to promote public understanding of ethical medical research.
Water and Environmental Sustainability: Among the year’s most impactful initiatives was Jeevandhara, implemented with CSR support from Scorpio. The project provides sustainable water access to 3,500 residents across four villages under Group Gram Panchayat Dhamani through a pipeline system connected to the Government’s Jal Jeevan Mission.

Through Project Restore, the Club revived two check dams in Murbad via desilting, enhancing water retention and local access. Under Aranya Habitat, a 5-acre forest restoration project in partnership with the Maharashtra Forest Department, 300 saplings were planted this year. To combat plastic pollution, the Club installed nine PET bottle crushing units at strategic locations. Additionally, the Club organised Paryavaran Parisanvad in collaboration with TMC and Paryavaran Dakshata Mandal to promote public environmental awareness and education.

Through these initiatives, the Rotary Club of Thane Green City reaffirmed its commitment to service, sustainability, and community transformation, delivering measurable and meaningful impact throughout Rotary Year 2025–26.
