Thane Municipal Corporation’s Ward Delimitation: Hearing Today?

The Thane Municipal Corporation is set to conduct a hearing on the proposed ward delimitation today. This draft was prepared ahead of the upcoming municipal elections. A total of 270 citizens have raised objections to the proposed delimitation.

The delimitation process was carried out by administration officials without interference from the ruling party. In 2017, a similar delimitation was done, but it led to controversy as an officer made changes to the ward structure, drawing widespread attention.

The current delimitation includes four corporators and three councillors from the previous municipal council. An additional ward is being created in the Ghodbunder area, with the division starting from Ghodbunder and ending in Diva-Mumbra. The highest number of objections were raised in Kolegaon, Diva, and Ghodbunder areas.
