Thane Municipal Corporation to Cut Off Water Supply to Illegal Buildings
Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has ordered officials to stop water supply to illegal buildings. This decision follows a High Court order that directed the civic body to disconnect both electricity and water connections to such structures. The aim is to stop unauthorized construction and protect citizens from unsafe buildings.
The Commissioner held a meeting with department heads and told them to act quickly. He stressed that illegal constructions should not get any new water connections, and if any were given recently, they must be cut off immediately.
Additional Commissioner Shant Rote, Deputy Commissioner J.J. Godepure (Encroachment), Shankar Patole, legal officer Makrand Kate, Deputy Engineer Vinod Pawar, and other officials were present.
The Municipal Corporation plans to follow the court’s order strictly and take strong action against such illegal buildings across the city. All departments have been asked to work together to make sure water supply is disconnected from unauthorized properties as soon as possible.
