Thane Gets 100 Electric Buses Under PM Scheme
Thane, India – As part of the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, 100 electric buses have been added to the Thane Municipal Transport (TMT) fleet. The goal is to provide citizens with efficient, environment-friendly public transport. These buses were supposed to be operational from the start of the year but were delayed due to technical issues, according to administration claims.
Out of 403 electric buses allocated to Thane under the scheme, 123 electric buses were part of the Thane transport department’s plan. Of these, 25 were to be delivered by August, and the rest by year-end. However, due to September’s onset, some buses could not be delivered to TMT.
The introduction of electric buses aims to make travel in Thane more comfortable and reduce the city’s environmental impact. The buses are being procured through the Thane Municipal Corporation’s transport department, supported by central and state government funding under the 15th Finance Commission and the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme
