Thane’s 36 Hour Water Wait

The Municipal Corporation had announced a 24-hour water cut. Due to the work not been completed on time, the shutdown was extended up to 36 hours. Water reserves in housing societies have been exhausted, leading to a surge in water tankers. However, citizens are complaining that the water tanks are not being filled completely either.

To fix a large-scale leakage in the main pipeline near the Majiwada Junction, plans were made for urgent repairs. Due to techinical difficulties, the work was not completed within the scheduled timeframe. While water supply was resumed on Sunday evening, many areas are receiving it at a low pressure.

The administration has conveyed that this situation is likely to persist for the next few days. Residents are demanding regular maintenance of pipelines and long-term solutions from the administration to avert such a crisis next time.
