Protest Committee Formed Over Demand to Create Separate Ward for 27 Villages in Kalyan-Dombivli

A heated protest took place in Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) regarding the demand to form a separate administrative ward for 27 villages recently included under KDMC limits. Citizens’ struggle committee strongly opposed the current ward formation and insisted that the 27 villages must be given their own division.

During the hearing, a large number of villagers and leaders gathered, voicing their anger. Committee president Suresh Shinde and several local leaders said the present ward system was unfair and would harm the development of villages. They warned that if their demand was not met, the agitation would intensify.

Meanwhile, district officials explained that the new ward structure was prepared as per government orders. However, villagers argued that their unique issues cannot be solved if they are merged with urban areas.

The protest highlighted the growing divide between urban expansion and rural identity, as villagers vowed to continue their fight until justice is ensured.
