Major Breakthrough for Mumbai Metro Line 5 as Kapurbawdi Obstacle Cleared
The work on the Orange Line (Metro 5), which connects the suburbs of Thane and Bhiwandi to Mumbai city, has received a green signal, with the demolition of the building near the Kapurbawdi Naka, which had been a long-standing obstacle.
Following this, the MMRDA completed the installation of girders on the metro pillars that had been stalled for a long time. To celebrate the completion of this, MMRDA officials performed a ritual and decorated the site.
The total length of this project is 24.90 km, and its purpose is to provide fast transport connectivity for residents of Thane, Bhiwandi, and Kalyan, who currently rely heavily on buses and local trains to reach Mumbai. The project is being executed in two phases: Phase 1 from Thane to Bhiwandi and Phase 2 from Bhiwandi to Kalyan. There iare approximately 17 stations along the routes.
