Cops Without Helmets to Face Double Trouble

The Additional Director General of Police (Traffic) has issued orders to take action against police officers riding two-wheelers without helmets. Additional Director General of Police (Traffic), Pravin Salunkhe issued orders to record these violations in their Service Books. It has been observed that in many places, police personnel and officers themselves are not wearing helmets.

The tendency to not wear helmets is increasing in the state. Except for Mumbai and Nagpur, the proportion of people wearing helmets in other cities and districts is extremely low. It has become clear that in many accidents, motorcyclists not wearing helmets have lost their lives; therefore, the state traffic department has made wearing helmets mandatory.

Citizen Participation and Consequences

If citizens post photos or videos of such police officers on social media, fine recovery must be initiated against them as per traffic rules. Such acts must be treated as a deliberate violation of law.

The move aims to curb the rising number of fatalities involving riders not wearing helmets across Maharashtra.
