Heavy Vehicle Movement Continues on Ghodbunder Road

Suspend negligent traffic officials immediately, demands MLA Sanjay Kelkar.

Despite strict orders restricting the entry of heavy vehicles on Ghodbunder Road between 6 a.m. and midnight, some traffic personnel near Gaimukh are allegedly allowing such vehicles during prohibited hours. MLA Sanjay Kelkar has demanded the immediate suspension of these officials, stressing the need for strict enforcement of traffic rules.

Speaking at the Janasevakacha Janasambad initiative on Friday, Kelkar said that heavy vehicles are permitted only between midnight and 6 a.m., but violations are still taking place. He urged the traffic department to implement the rules firmly until long-term solutions like the Coastal Road, metro services, and the Delhi-Mumbai corridor ease traffic congestion in the future. Meanwhile, he appealed for service roads to remain clear, potholes to be prevented, and traffic to be properly regulated.

The event, held at BJP’s Khopat office, saw citizens submit various grievances, including housing fraud by developers, issues related to building occupancy certificates, gas, water supply, SRA, drainage, and unauthorized constructions. Residents of Swami Krupa Society thanked Kelkar for resolving their water shortage problem and providing benches and dustbins.

Kelkar also intervened in the issue of unpaid compensation to farmers in Chiplun whose land was acquired by the irrigation department. After speaking directly to the sub-divisional officer, he ensured that steps were taken to release the payments.

The program drew participants not only from Thane but also from Mulund, Ghatkopar, Kalyan, Vasai, Virar, Shahapur, and even Konkan, reflecting growing public trust in Kelkar’s problem-solving approach.
