Illegal Constructions in Yeoor Must Be Demolished in Six Months.

High Court Issues Strict Order to Thane Municipal Corporation.

The Bombay High Court has ordered the demolition of two illegal constructions in Yeoor, located in Thane, within six months. The order was given after a petition highlighted the environmental damage and safety risks caused by these unauthorized structures.

The court stressed that these illegal constructions pose a serious threat to the eco-sensitive Yeoor Hills. It directed the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) to take immediate action. The case revealed that over 200 illegal structures exist in Yeoor, and action against them has been delayed for years.

Earlier, the court had also ordered action against 21 illegal buildings in Mumbai’s Khan Compound, marking this as the first major action against Yeoor’s encroachments. The two structures in question are part of commercial complexes, including resorts, hotels, and private properties.

The court warned that failure to act could lead to contempt proceedings. The TMC now faces pressure to complete the demolition process and remove other unauthorized buildings threatening the forest area.
