Rush for Sponsorship for Thane Marathon!

Expenses ₹7.5 Crore, Allocation Only ₹30 Lakh.

The annual Thane Marathon, held for the past six years, faces a major financial crunch this year. The event’s expenses are estimated at ₹7.5 crore, but the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has allocated only ₹30 lakh. This has forced the corporation to urgently seek sponsors to cover the remaining cost.

The marathon, scheduled for August 10, will mark its 31st edition this year. Thousands of citizens are expected to participate. Despite the financial strain, TMC is determined to conduct the marathon successfully. The event includes prize money of ₹90 lakh, medals, and trophies. Winners in each category will receive ₹1 lakh in cash.

Previously, the TMC had enough budget to organize the marathon independently. However, due to limited funds this year, the administration is actively approaching private sponsors. Unless significant sponsorship is secured soon, the prestigious marathon could face challenges in execution.
