Thane Faces Water Supply Cuts Due to Low Rainfall
Citizens of Thane are likely to face water shortages over the next two days as water supply will be reduced by 20%. Due to poor rainfall this monsoon, the water levels in dams supplying water to Thane have dropped significantly.
Thane receives water from three main sources — Bhatsa, Barvi, and Andhan. But the current water levels are much lower than expected for this time of year. As a result, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), which manages water supply, has decided to reduce the water supply by 20%.
The cut in supply will affect both the Thane Municipal Corporation area and MIDC industrial zones. Water issues have already begun, with low pressure and irregular timings reported.
TMC officials said the situation will be reviewed after a few days depending on rainfall. Citizens are being urged to use water carefully and avoid wastage.
This reduction will affect daily life in several areas of Thane, including Ghodbunder, Majiwada, Naupada, and Wagle Estate. Authorities are asking people to store water in advance and remain prepared.
