Parents Protest Giving Marathi School Building to English Medium in Thane

Parents of students from Saraswati Mandir Trust’s Marathi medium school have strongly opposed the proposal to hand over the school building to the Trust’s English medium section. The parents demand that Marathi and English medium students be treated equally and that Marathi schools must be protected, not pushed aside.

A meeting was held between the school management and parents, where many voiced concerns that the identity of the Marathi school is being lost. Parents alleged that classrooms and facilities are slowly being shifted to the English section.

They argued that Marathi medium students should not be made to feel secondary and that the building should remain dedicated to Marathi education. They also demanded that science labs, playgrounds, and libraries be equally available to Marathi students.

The Trust clarified that there is no intention to close the Marathi school and that decisions will consider students’ well-being. The management assured that Marathi education remains a priority.
