Thane’s Digital Dash: 27 Lakh Residents Mapped in Just 72 Hours
The Thane Municipal Corporation has achieved a significant milestone by completing the house listing and area registration (HLB Demarcation) in just three days, after the digitilisation of census collection. A dedicated team of only five employees worked extensively to achieve 100% completion of the campaign, covering 5,265 House Listing Blocks (HLB). Authorities prepared data for approximately 27 lakh Thane residents during this drive.
In this year’s census, authorities used the HLO App to conduct house listing. Moving slow at first, the campaign picked up speed due to rapid execution later. Deputy Commissioner Madhukar Bodke stated that this feat was possible because officers and employees worked day and night from Saturday to Monday.
The Diva Ward Committee recorded the highest density of houses, followed by Majiwada-Manpada. The whole process is essential because it serves as a foundation for future planning of civic amenities, including census accuracy, water supply planning, road infrastructure, and healthcare services.
