Thane Taps Out: Car Washes Banned in the City

Until  June 10, washing vehicles and other cleaning activities at all service centers in the city has been banned. Mayor Sharmila Pimpalolkar and Commissioner Saurabh Rao have appealed to the citizens to cooperate in this manner.

Since the past few days, due to intense heat, the water level in the dams and borewells is decreasing.  The administration has urged citizens to use water sparingly. As an effective measure for water conservation, the washing and cleaning of two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers and other vehicles at service centers has been temporarily suspended. The Commissioner has stated that those who violate these orders will be punished under the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act.

Mayor Pimpalolkar has urged citizens to adopt water-saving habits at the household level. Habits that lead to water wastage such as washing cars at home, hosing down courtyards, or leaving taps running should be avoided.
