Kojagiri Pournima: Night of Spiritual Awakening
Thane: Kojagiri Pournima, a significant lunar event, will be observed on Monday, October 6. As it falls on a midnight lunar eclipse, astrologer Dr. Kr. Soman highlights its importance for spiritual awakening.
On this night, people traditionally perform Lakshmi pujan, fast, stay awake, and observe dietary restrictions. The moonlight-infused milk, prepared with kesar, badam, sugar, and sukamalva, is offered to Chandra (moon). This milk is considered beneficial for body and mind due to the moon’s medicinal properties.
Dr. Soman emphasizes that Kojagiri Pournima is the first full moon after the monsoon and symbolizes unity with nature. Communities celebrate with cultural programs, music, dance competitions, and collective milk drinking.
The night encourages spiritual alertness against ignorance, laziness, and superstition. It reflects a lifestyle rooted in spiritual awareness, says Dr. Soman.
