New Zealand and South Africa eye first points in ICC Women’s World Cup 2025
Match number 7 of the 13th edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup will be played between New Zealand and South Africa on Monday at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Both these teams have started their World Cup campaign with a loss. New Zealand and South Africa have played 20 ODIs against each other, of which New Zealand has won 12 and South Africa has won eight. At the World Cups, New Zealand leads the head-to-head battle 3-1.

Players to watch out
Sophie Devine: The captain of New Zealand smashed a century against Australia in her previous outing, chasing 327. The right-handed middle-order batter scored 112 runs in as many balls, including a dozen fours and three sixes. She also bowled eight overs of gentle medium pace, albeit going wicket-less.
Lea Tahuhu: The vastly experienced right-arm seamer from New Zealand was the pick of the bowlers against Australia. She scalped three wickets for 42 runs in eight overs. The 35-year-old was also the most economical bowler for her team in the high scoring contest.
Laura Wolvaardt: The captain of South Africa was dismissed cheaply for just five runs in her last match against England. Boasting of 4500+ ODI runs in 111 matches, including nine centuries and 35 half-centuries, the right-handed opener will be itching to go big against the White Ferns.
Marizanne Kapp: The world number two all-rounder in ICC women’s ODI rankings had a disappointing game against England. Batting at number four, she scored just four runs. Also, opening the bowling, she could not pick wickets in her four-over spell. With 3300+ ODI runs and 150+ ODI wickets, she is a gun all-rounder and South Africa will expect the most out of her.
