Six-Foot Idols to be Immersed in Artificial Ponds.

As per the High Court order, Ganesh idols up to six feet in height will be immersed in artificial ponds this year. Therefore, the municipal corporation will set up artificial ponds for idol immersion. Due to this, the number of natural water bodies for immersion will be reduced. Deputy Commissioner Ram Yadav informed about the arrangements.

Improved Immersion System

The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has instructed that idol immersions should not harm the environment during Ganeshotsav 2025. Hence, Thane Municipal Corporation has decided to make separate arrangements for idol immersion at multiple locations. Idols will not be immersed in rivers, lakes, or reservoirs but in artificial ponds to prevent water pollution.

Coordination with Committees

The administration has asked Ganesh Mandals to cooperate by following the rules. Police and other departments will ensure smooth management. 74 artificial ponds, 15 temporary ponds, and 9 mobile ponds will be available for immersions.

The municipal corporation also urged people to use eco-friendly idols and participate in clean and safe celebrations.
