Thane to Get Third Theatre Auditorium in Kavesar!

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik takes initiative for new facility

The city currently has two theatre auditoriums — Ram Ganesh Gadkari Rangayatan and Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruha. However, both are facing overcrowding due to increasing cultural activities.

To meet this demand, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has proposed a third auditorium in Kavesar. He has written to municipal officials requesting the construction of a new, well-equipped auditorium in Ghodbunder area.

The proposed location in Ghodbunder will offer a 7433.32 sq. meter plot, ensuring space for modern facilities. The area has seen rapid population growth, and residents are demanding better cultural infrastructure.

Sarnaik’s proposal has been supported by former corporator Saurabh Patil. Once approved, this auditorium will provide a platform for local artists and ease the pressure on existing venues.

This marks a significant step toward boosting Thane’s cultural scene and supporting local talent.
