Thane Railway Station to Get a ₹949 Crore Upgrade
Thane railway station is set for a big modernization project under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with a budget of ₹949 crore. MP Dr. Naresh Mhaske raised this issue in Parliament, urging the Railway Minister to take quick action. Thane station serves over 26 lakh passengers every day and is one of the busiest railway stations in the country. It faces problems like overcrowding, poor passenger facilities, and traffic congestion. To solve this, the new plan includes extra platforms, a new foot over bridge, escalators, lifts, improved lighting, waiting areas, and digital display boards. Special focus will be on safety, accessibility, and better commuting experience for all. The station will also have more auto and taxi bays and separate entry and exit points. The new design will help reduce crowding and make it easier for passengers to move around. Mhaske also pointed out that a large number of local commuters use this station daily and that it should match world-class standards. Once approved and implemented, the development will improve daily travel for thousands of Thane citizens and offer modern facilities. The project aims to start soon after receiving final approvals.
