Thane’s Open Drain to Become a EV Hub

A proposal is being prepared to construct an electric vehicle charging station atop an open drain in Hiranandani Meadows, Thane. MLA Sanjay Kelkar and Thane Municipal Corporation officials made this decision after a recent site inspection.

Thousands of residents in the area have been losing sleep over the stench of the open drain. Health has also suffered significantly. MLA Sanjay Kelkar suggested placing a concrete slab over it. To make the project sustainable, an EV charging station will be built on this newly created surface.

The project will be executed on a PPP basis, meaning it will not place an additional financial burden on the Municipal Corporation.

MLA Kelkar stated that by enclosing the drain and developing a charging station, the area will become odor-free, providing much-needed relief to the residents.
