First Ever Digital Census in Thane

For the first time, under the guidance of District Collector Dr Shrikrishna Panchal, the digital process for the Indian Census 2027 has commenced in Thane district. The field trainers will start their training on April 6 under the direct supervision of Deputy Collector Rupali Bhalke.

There are 64 field trainers divided into two batches of 32 people each. Tehsildar of Kalyan, Vinod Bhamre, and Tehsildar Swati Ghongade are providing expert guidance as master trainers. The training will continue until April 11.

The training primarily focuses on the first phase of Census 2027 (May 16-June 14)—House Listing and House Census. Due to the digital format, enumerators will use the CMMS Portal and the HLBC App instead of paper forms.

These trainers will subsequently prepare approximately 4,000 enumerators and supervisors across nine charges between April 27 and May 8.

Dr Shrikrishan Panchal emphasised the importance of accuracy in this process, expressing confidence that digital facilities will bring transparency to data collection.

In addition, the administration has appealed to citizens to log in to the government’s official portal between May 10 and May 15 to register their information through the “Self-Enumeration” facility.
