Smuggling of MD Worth ₹32 Crore Using Thane Municipal Logo.

Two Arrested; Police Investigation Underway.

The Mumbra police have arrested two accused for smuggling the drug MD (Mephedrone) worth ₹32 crore by using a Thane Municipal Corporation logo on their vehicle to avoid suspicion. The seized contraband weighs about 16 kg.

The arrested are identified as Ahmed Qamar Ahmed Ansari (23) from Mumbai and Teher Desai (35) from Kolhapur, both with prior criminal records. Police also seized a car, three mobile phones, and cash worth ₹10,140 from them.

The accused allegedly used the municipal logo to give the impression that the vehicle belonged to political leaders or municipal officials. Police are investigating if anyone from the municipal corporation or political circles is linked to the case.

The operation took place on August 9 in Bapgaon, near Mumbra, during a routine vehicle check. The accused failed to provide valid documents, leading to the discovery of the drugs. Further investigation is ongoing.
