Low Response to MHADA Konkan Board’s 71 Shops

Application Deadline Extended Till October 10.

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority’s (MHADA) Konkan Board has been forced to extend the deadline for applications in its e-auction of 71 shops, following a poor response from buyers. Originally, the process was set to close on Friday (September 26), but just hours before the deadline, the authority announced an extension. Applicants can now register and submit forms until October 10, with the e-auction results to be declared on October 16.

Earlier this month, the Mumbai Board conducted an e-auction for 149 shops, where only 70 were sold and 79 remained vacant, mainly due to high prices and older properties. A similar trend is now visible with the Konkan Board, where interest has been minimal.

Of the 71 shops on offer—44 in Bolinj, Virar, and 27 in Chitalsar—the registration process began on September 11. The last date for form submission was initially September 25, while earnest money deposits were due by September 26. The auction was scheduled for October 13, with results on October 14. However, with only 55 applications received by the deadline, the Board was compelled to extend all stages of the process.

Now, applicants can register until October 10, place bids on October 15, and await results on October 16. Authorities hope the extension will improve participation, but whether the response picks up remains to be seen.
