From Pink Rooms to Tanker-Free Villages
Chief Executive Officer Ranjit Yadav presented a budget of 116.99 crore rupees for the Thane Zilla Prishad for 2026-2027 on Wednesday. A unique feature of this year’s budget is the ‘Pink Room’ scheme for Zilla Parishad secondary schools. This room is designed to allow female students to rest and find comfort if they feel unwell during their menstrual cycle at school.
The budget allotted for Women and Child Welfare and the ‘Pink Room’ initiative is 4.89 crore rupees and 25 lakh rupees, respectively. The highest allocation is to rural infrastructure, 19.87 crore rupees. The education department will be allocated 11.36 crore, the Divyang welfare department around 3.05 crore, and the social welfare department around 9.79 crore.
Education: ‘Mission Bharari,’ a programme to improve educational quality and foster a scientific temperament among students, will be initiated. The successful scholarship examination pattern from the Shahapur Taluka will be implemented throughout the district.
Smart PHC: 23 Primary Health Centres will be upgraded. Plans include portable X-ray machines, improved vaccination drives, and disease control.
Clean Water and Sanitation: 2 crore will be allocated for drinking water. Through repairs of hand pumps, solar pumps, and well-recharging, 22 villages and 34 hamlets have now become “tanker-free.”
School Safety and Infrastructure: Installation of CCTV cameras for student safety and provision of sports equipment, cleanliness/sanitation materials for schools.
Additional CEO Ajinkya Pawar, Deputy CEO Avinash Phadtare, and Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Vaijnath Buradkar, among others, were present.
