ST Bus Repairs Halted; RTO Fines Cause Unrest.
Due to errors by the ST administration, drivers are being fined unfairly, claim ST drivers. They staged a protest at the depot demanding action against these penalties. Drivers said they were charged fines of ₹4,000 each for minor delays. According to drivers, buses running on the Agra Road highway have to pass through toll booths. The RTO has been imposing fines of ₹15,000 to ₹16,000 when buses cross the checkpoint even a few minutes late. In just two days, fines of ₹44,129 were issued to the drivers. Drivers blame the administration for poor bus maintenance, which causes delays. They refuse to pay fines for issues beyond their control. The union has requested the authorities to repair buses properly and stop unjust fines. Officials stated that drivers must follow schedules. However, drivers insist fines are unfair when delays happen due to faulty buses. Discussions are ongoing to resolve the issue.
