Contractor Fined ₹50 Lakh for Poor Quality Work.

Cracks Appear on Newly Built Flyover Road in Kasarvadavali.

The road on the newly constructed flyover at Kasarvadavali on the Ghodbunder Road developed cracks just 15 days after completion. The contractor responsible, J. Kumar Company, has been fined ₹50 lakh by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for poor-quality work.

The flyover, aimed at easing traffic congestion in the area, was recently opened to the public. However, cracks on the fresh surface raised serious safety concerns. Following inspection, the road was found to be substandard.

Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde had earlier ordered strict action against contractors delivering low-quality work. Acting on these orders, the authorities imposed a heavy penalty on the company.

Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao also directed officials to closely monitor repair works to ensure the road is rebuilt with proper standards. Authorities have warned that similar action will be taken against any future negligence.
