Work Begins for Girders on New Thane Station Bridge

Thane East-West connecting railway bridge’s girder work will be done between July 26 and August 3. The railway department has granted permission for this, and traffic on the Kopri bridge will be closed during the work.

This project is part of the Smart City plan to improve the Thane East station area. Around 80% of the work is already completed. The bridge is 46 meters long and will help ease traffic. For girder installation, 14 hours of railway block time is needed. Thane Municipal Corporation had requested this, and the approval was received two days ago.

The work will happen at night on July 26, 27, 29 (from 8 PM to 11 AM next day) and on July 28, 30, August 1, 2, and 3 (from 8 PM to 12 noon next day). Over 50 officers, railway staff, and cranes will be used.

Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao asked citizens to cooperate with traffic changes during this period. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
