Thane ST Earns Record Revenue Boost During Ashadi Pilgrimage

Thane ST depot has seen a major rise in revenue during the Ashadi Ekadashi pilgrimage. The Maharashtra State Transport (MSRTC) department earned over ₹10 lakh more than usual by deploying additional buses for the pilgrimage rush.

According to ST officials, Thane alone witnessed a revenue jump of ₹64.33 lakh compared to the previous year. On July 10, eight depots under Thane division operated special bus services to handle the large crowd. A total of 1,448 buses made 308 trips, covering over 5.32 lakh kilometers and safely transporting over 16,000 pilgrims.

Statewide, MSRTC deployed around 6,200 special buses which made over 11,000 trips, earning ₹35.57 crore in revenue. This included ₹10.68 lakh from ticket sales in Thane, with the average fare being ₹68.30.

This year’s income exceeded the 2014 Ashadi pilgrimage record by ₹64.33 lakh, and ₹43.42 lakh more than last year’s revenue.
