Shade from Trees Lost; City Roads Now Exposed to Heat
Several major roads in Thane have lost their tree cover due to development works, removing natural shade and increasing heat for pedestrians. Areas like Cadbury Junction, Ghodbunder Road, Jail Road, and Vasant Vihar have been affected. Over 60 trees were cut for water pipeline work. Citizens are feeling the heat and demand replantation. Environmentalists suggest that trees must be replanted to restore the greenery and provide relief from the rising temperatures.
