ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023: Can Bangladesh register their first-ever win against Sri Lanka in World Cups?

By the time Sri Lanka could recover from the disappointment of the defeat that they suffered at the hands of Afghanistan by seven wickets, they were soon annihilated by India after getting bowled out for a paltry 55 and losing by a mammoth margin of 302 runs. The wounds of these two defeats would be fresh in the Sri Lankan camp. However, it would be interesting to see if they come out stronger in their next match against Bangladesh or take the ground with self-confidence hitting all time low.

Bangladesh, with nothing to lose, is expected to play a fearless brand of cricket and add to the miserly of the island nation. In match number 38 of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, the two teams will lock horns against each other on November 6 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Delhi is experiencing poor air quality and there are reports that the match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka could be abandoned.

Head-to-Head

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have played 53 ODIs against each other since 1986, of which Bangladesh have won nine, Sri Lanka have won 42, and two matches did not produce results. In India, they have played two ODIs against each other, and Sri Lanka have won both. At the World Cups, they have faced off three times and Sri Lanka have emerged victorious on all occasions.
