Thane Badminton Academy Shines in Multiple Tournaments
Young talents Yohan Nair, Mayank Rajput, Abhilasha Shirgaonkar and Piyush Sutar excel.
Players from Thane Badminton Academy’s Syed Modi Coaching Program have delivered outstanding performances in several school and district-level tournaments this year, adding to the academy’s growing list of achievements.
At the Dream Sports MSSA 81st Inter-School Badminton Championship 2025-26, Yohan Nair clinched the boys’ under-10 singles title. He defeated Kian Jain in the semifinals with a dominant 21-6, 21-8 score and went on to edge past Ziyan Ghiya in a thrilling final 15-21, 25-23, 18-21.
In the same championship, Mayank Rajput emerged champion in the boys’ under-14 category. He overcame Kavya Parmar 21-14, 21-17 in the semifinals and sealed the title by defeating Arjun Raut 21-9, 21-11 in straight games.
Meanwhile, Abhilasha Shirgaonkar won all her matches in the Thane district under-14 girls’ singles, securing her selection for the Satara Inter-Zonal competition. Representing Yashwant International School, she brought this honor to her school for the very first time.
Adding to the medal tally, Piyush Sutar bagged gold in the boys’ under-10 singles at the Intra IES Badminton Championship.
