Replica of Brihadeshwara Temple and Char Dham at Tembhi Naka Navratri Festival
The 48th year of the Navratri festival organized by Shri Jai Ambe Maa Public Charitable Trust will showcase a grand attraction this year. A replica of Tamil Nadu’s famous Brihadeshwara Temple along with Char Dham shrines will be created, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced at a press conference.
Magnificent Decoration
This year’s decoration will measure 110 feet in length, 45 feet wide at the back and 55 feet in the front, with a total height of nearly 75 feet. Around 125 pillars are being used for the structure, modeled completely on the original Brihadeshwara Temple architecture. Unlike the original, the temple’s spire (kalash) will not be recreated. Instead, prayers and offerings will be dedicated to people affected by natural disasters across Maharashtra and other states.
Artistic Work
The temple replica will also feature detailed models and information about the Char Dham temples. A 24×29 ft statue of Lord Shiva will be installed at the entrance. Nearly 200–250 artisans are working day and night for the past three months under art director Aman Vidhate. The entire decoration will be completed in just 13 days after Ganesh immersion.
Local leaders and volunteers are actively supporting the preparations for the festival.
